Charles Perkins, who went to prison after confessing to murder, has asked to see Vicki. The murder he confessed to was on one of Vicki’s cases from when she was still with the force. He reveals to Vicki that he’s not the murderer but saw it through a psychic vision. He wants Vicki to find the real killer and get him released. He also believes another murder is about to be committed because he senses it.

Turns out he’s right about another murder and while Mike is skeptical and trying to work the case as a straight homicide and a copycat killer, Vicki, Henry and Coreen work the case from a different point of view.  Henry appears to be sticking close to Vicki and Coreen in order to find out how the black magic spell has affected them.

They eventually discover that the convicted murderer, Charles Perkins, is one of three children tortured by their psychiatrist mother, who was using them as guinea pigs to try and find a way to control childhood aggression. Charles, Sydney and Kelly share three parts of the psyche and are in contact with each other through a telepathic link established long ago in their childhood.

Vicki tries to take this information to Mike but he doesn’t want to hear it so she goes to investigate on her own and runs across Sydney’s dead body. Kelly has killed him and absorbed his psyche and now he wants to do the same to Charles and fully integrate his personality. However, Mike has gone to visit Charles, who manages to use the link between him and Kelly to alert Mike to Vicki’s impending death.

Mike, being too far away to save her, calls Henry who gets to the hospital in time to save Vicki and kill Kelly. It would appear that all’s well that ends well but with Kelly and Sydney’s death, Charles, now absolved of murder and about to be released, has integrated his brother’s psyches with his own. However, Vicki is powerless at this point to do anything about it.

In other news, Mike and Henry continue to try to separate themselves from Vicki with little success and we get some nifty little flashbacks in the Mike/Vicki back story.

Vicki: You wanna talk about this? Great. I was trying to save your life!
Henry: I'd rather be dead than see you seduced by dark magic.
Vicki: (scoffs) Oh, I get it. You're trying to protect me from myself?
Henry: No. You're the only one who can do that. I vowed to protect you from evil; I can't protect you from yourself

Mike: You know what's sad, Vic?
Vicki: Ah… the ending of Old Yeller?
Mike: Sadder.
Vicki: No, there's nothing sadder than the ending of Old Yeller.
