Previously on Blood Ties, bug lady was after Vicki, Christina was after Henry and Mike and Henry are really bad at the whole “covert” thing…
Henry is checking the “who’s got what territory” list with a friend of his on the phone named Augustus when Vicki arrives to give him more hell on leaving her out of things. Apparently Henry’s been avoiding her.
She gives him crap about teaming up with Mike and leaving her alone with her eye condition to wander the lonely streets at night. She wants him to get over his Mommy issues and let her help on the Christina front but before he can say no again she gets a phone call… more model murders.
They head over to the crime scene and Henry finds out the Mike knows about Christina. Vicki argues that Christina is out of control but Henry says that lurid display is not Christina’s trademark.
Vicki talks to Mike who yells some more about his streets turning into a vampire territorial bloodbath when Henry spots a peculiar brooch on a nearby table. He wastes no time in stealing it and then beating a hasty retreat…
A retreat to one of his loyal groupies for a midnight snack and some question and answer. His playmate isn’t so much interested in giving him information but he manages to get some information about a photographer out of her before she gets her love bite. Unfortunately it doesn’t last long enough for either of them because Henry feels a presence.
Sending his friend away he uses his vampire voice to try and draw out Christina… all he gets from his trouble is a flashback to before he was turned.
Henry and Christina are walking the streets of Merry Old England. Christina asks him if he’s sure and he promises her that he is. She doesn’t think so but they still have a little time so she uses her funky brooch to cut her wrist and Henry eagerly drinks from it.
While Henry’s flashbacking to the good ole days Mike goes to see Vicki and they talk more about the Henry/Christina situation. Mike maintains that an unpredictable Henry is a dangerous Henry and shows her some photos of the brooch and then the disappearing brooch. He tells her not only is Henry lying to them but he’s actively working against them at this point.
The actively working Henry approaches his apartment door and senses a presence inside before he even enters. Cautiously moving through his apartment he finds Christina lounging on his bed listening to Opera.
She reminisces about the good ole days but Henry wants her to either get down to business or go away. She really needs his help this time but it doesn’t stop her from trying to seduce him first. She talks about how he wants to tear her apart, but in a “good way” and he denies it. Even so they go for each other’s throat…
Christina thinks they should have a truce and Henry wonders why he should let her live in his territory when she tried to kill him for stepping into hers. She admits straying into his area but she had good reason. He wants to know if it has anything to do with dead models.
She denies killing the models and blames it on a new vampire named Alexander. She figures Henry must have sensed him. She didn’t know what else to do with a young, untrained, volatile vamp so she led him to her old flame. He agrees to help her but insists she talk to Mike and once it’s done she leaves. She agrees and takes her leave.
Henry reports in to Vicki and asks her to find Alexander. Vicki wants to know where rational Henry went but Henry explains that the love for Christina is still there and it’s hard to be completely rational in this situation. Vicki doesn’t think that Henry should just believe Christina but before they can talk further about it Christina blows in and Vicki hangs up on Henry without letting him know it.
Christina just wanted to meet the competition and then tries her vampire wiles to get Vicki to “sit down”. Strong willed Vicki of course just tells her she has a nasty sore throat and Christina figure Vicki’s strong will is what attracts Henry to her.
Christina is obviously there to check out the competition and she tells Vicki that Vicki may think she knows Henry but Christina made him. Vicki thinks maybe she should stay for the gorgeous sunrise but Christina thinks that would take the fun out of everything so she takes off. After Christina leaves, Vicki pulls out ye ole Illuminacion Del Sol and takes a good long look at it.
The next day Coreen and Vicki research and find Alexander Demare. Vicki thinks Christina is definitely lying about something and Coreen wonders if she isn’t just a little territorial herself but Vicki ignores the comment and heads off to…
Meet Mike in the morgue. Mohadevan tells them that the marks on the victims show a level of incompetence but that the incompetence is lessening with each kill making the murderer more dangerous.
They head out but are stopped by a very happy Dave. See, Dave loves homicide and he loves it even more when he can question models all day long. He didn’t come across Alexander in his interviews though and Mike asks him to check into him.
Vicki doesn’t understand why they aren’t focusing on Christina but Mike insists he has to follow all the leads. He thinks that this is exactly what Henry was worried about that there could be serious fallout from all this.
Henry finds Christina outside the theatre and they reminisce about their love of Opera. We can see that their conversation is being watched but they’re too caught up in each other to notice. Christina ups her feminine wiles and wonders if Henry wants to neck. He does… a lot.
After the snack, it’s time for some more reminiscing. She was afraid he wouldn’t help her after Vienna and even though Henry doesn’t want her to remind him they talk about it anyway. Then he asks about Alexander and why he’s after her. She contends that it’s just about him wanting to make his mark and that he’ll take down all of them if he can, including Vicki.
At Henry’s reaction to Vicki’s name being brought up Christina realizes that Henry hasn’t had her and wonders why she didn’t see it. Henry, exasperated, simply walks away from her.
Vicki returns to her office to find that Coreen has located Alexander’s sister. She’s a hugger and is very happy to meet someone that can help her find her brother. She describes Alexander as gentle and harmless. Vicki agrees to help her find him and asks about Alexander’s life just before he disappeared.
Alexander’s sister says that he met a woman about nine months ago and that they were so much in love with each other. Alexander thought that this woman could really help his career. Then she shows Vicki a photo taken six months ago of Alexander… a photo taken at sunset which means Christina has been lying about how old he is.
Vicki rushes over to Henry with her new find but he says that Christina’s lying about Alexander’s age doesn’t really matter. Vicki can’t imagine how he thinks that, when Christina has been lying to him about Alexander stalking her for a year. And by the way, why can’t she just kill him herself when she’s tried to kill Henry once already?
Henry confirms that it’s more than once and Vicki scoffs that she can’t handle a baby vamp. Henry thinks that Alexander is smart for not going after Christina directly, knowing that he’s no match for her. He wants to expose her instead and it could happen to any one of them.
Vicki wonders why Alexander isn’t still with his parent and thinks Christina is the one who made him. Henry says there’s no way Christina turn Alexander because if she had he would be devoted to her not stalking her.
Clearly getting no where with Henry Vicki tries to go back to Mike, who informs her that he’s going to be interviewing Christina at midnight at her photo shoot. Vicki thinks her photo shoot is rather public and thinks she might be trying to draw Alexander out. She doesn’t think any of this makes sense however and wonders if they’re missing something.
Henry wanders the streets and flashes back to Christina’s lessons about drinking only what you need and resisting the kill. Henry tells her she’s told him all this before and she needs to stop treating him like a simpleton and that he’s of noble blood. She agrees and they kiss.
Back in the present Henry is trying to call out Alexander. He feels him but the vampire won’t show himself.
Meanwhile, Vicki goes back to the morgue and wonders about the hesitation marks on the first victim. Mohadevan shows her two more puncture marks on the first victim and reveals that she was drained from those marks, no fuss, no muss and that the neck wounds were irrelevant to her death. They realize that the killer wanted the first victim to look messy to disguise the actual mode of death.
Henry is still trying to draw out Alexander and he finds him drinking from the loyal groupie of earlier in the episode. Alexander runs off as Henry checks the girl, who is still breathing. Henry yells out that it was a mistake to involve him and Alexander simply replies “chase me or save her”. Henry chooses the second option and as he walks away with the unconscious girl Alexander says he can either protect Christina or the ones close to him but he can’t do both. Henry says “watch me”.
Vicki is back with Alexander’s sister. She says Alexander will probably show up at Christina’s photo shoot. She wants to go to him and says that she knows her brother. He’s not capable of what they’re accusing him of. Vicki think that Alexander has gotten mixed up in something bad but Alexander’s sister says she can reach him no matter what. Vicki agrees to give it a try.
At the photo shoot Christina is talking with Mike and Dave. They ask about Alexander and Christina is very vague about her relationship with him. She says he was sweet at first but it all turned bad in New York. He broke into her studio and her apartment. Dave wonders why she didn’t just file a restraining order but Christina says that she doesn’t have much faith in the police and before she came here he hadn’t killed anyone.
Christina wants to know if they’re done here because she models to “shoot” and when Mike says that it won’t be much longer she uses her vampire wiles to end the interview immediately. Of Dave and Mike, so simple minded.
We get miscellaneous shots of lights being fit into a grid and then we see Alexander watching Christina from the stage as Vicki and Alexander’s sister show up. Vicki wants her to wait there while she finds Alexander.
Henry enters and uses his vampire mojo on a nearby model ensuring that he and Christina have sufficient privacy. She clears out the rest of the crew and Henry wastes no time in telling her he doesn’t like this situation. He calls her on her lies about Alexander and wonders why an untrained vampire would fixate on her. She again claims that she doesn’t know.
Not taking kindly to this answer, Henry grabs her by the throat and says that Alexander has already been there and that he was close. He can’t imagine why Alexander could get so close without her knowing it and deduces that it’s because the bond between them is still new and close. Her body doesn’t consider him a threat. He tells Christina that Vicki was right; Christina turned Alexander and then turned him out without teaching him the rights and wrongs of being a vampire.
He goes to leave but Christina stops him, saying that it doesn’t matter now. He’s seen Henry with her. Once Alexander takes her out, he’ll come after Henry and then Vicki. He has to protect Christina because otherwise he’s next.
Vicki is upstairs in the loft looking for Alexander and sees that they’re preparing for the shoot. She notices blood on the banister and looks up to see a stage hand dead above her. She realizes that Alexander is there in disguise and has replaced the lights with UV’s that will act like sunlight on Christina. She runs to warn everyone as the lights finally go on and Christina begins to burn under them.
Henry, however, is still nearby and saves Christina as Vicki throws the lights on the stage, giving her his blood to restore her. Christina runs away after feeding from Henry and Henry tells Vicki to get somewhere safe because he’s going after the young vampire.
Alexander is up on the catwalk and his sister surprises him there, finding him in full vampire face. He yells at her not to look at him and that’s where Henry finds them, telling Alexander to let his sister go. He tells Alexander that he can make his sister forget and that she won’t have to remember him like that.
Alexander lets his sister go and Henry makes her forget. As he does so Alexander tries to escape but Henry catches him before he can leave. As they argue about control and loss of it Henry realizes that Christina made Alexander against his will. Alexander wanted Christina dead but that it doesn’t matter now. All her wanted was for someone to know who she is and what she did. Henry’ll do.
Henry says that if Alexander lets him he’ll help him to control his urges and live with who’s become but Alexander yells that he hates what they are. That hate is all that’s left of him. There’s only one thing Henry give him and that’s death. Deliverance from evil.
Henry grants Alexander that wish and holds him as he dies.
Vicki, meanwhile, has run back to her office and tries to get her gun. Too bad Christina’s got the bullets. Vicki says she gets it, vampires are cool. Vicki tells her the smorgasbord is closed. Then she reveals that she knows that Christina killed the first model so she could manipulate Henry into doing her dirty work.
Vicki says the difference between Christina and Henry is that she only thinks people are a means to an end.
As Vicki is talking Christina notices that she’s now holding the Illuminacion Del Sol and wonders if Henry knows she kept it. Vicki declares that there aren’t any secrets between her and Henry. Christina doesn’t think she’s quick enough to use it and rushes her.
Christina says one day Vicki will beg Henry to turn her, so she can be like them. People are all the same. As she goes to bite her, Henry arrives and says she’s wrong. Christina broke the only code that matters, the one that keeps order.
Christina throws Vicki against the wall, knocking her out and turns to face Henry. He grabs her around the neck and threatens her with death if she ever returns to his territory again. She tries to tell him he’s not the only one that felt the loss of them. Alexander…
Henry doesn’t let her finish the sentence, telling her she can be 50 miles away before sunrise and to get going. As she wonders if Vicki is really worth it, he picks Vicki up from the floor and tells Christina that she’s past and Vicki’s the future.
Christina leaves with a parting “we’ll see” as Henry lays Vicki on her sofa and tells her he’s sorry.
We end with a closing scene in the police station. Vicki is consoling Alexander’s sister as Mike and Henry talk about whether or not Alexander should rate some sympathy. Mike says his sympathy is for the families and that Alexander got off easy with Henry killing him.
Henry refuses to judge Alexander and says he knows Mike doesn’t understand his relationship with Christina. Mike asks what? A relationship where the line is never clear and some days you think you’d do anything to get past and you know you never will? As Mike looks at Vicki he wonders how he could possibly be expected to understand that.
As Mike talks Vicki approaches as asks “understand what”? But as Mike turns to Henry to get his help Henry is gone.
