The show starts off with Vicki and Henry meeting in a comic book shop and having a conversation about Vicki getting to know Henry (I love Henry's line "I would've told you anything you wanted to know."). It is revealed that Coreen put an ad in the paper, (Vicki: "I'm not ghostbusters." Coreen: "They had a lot of clients, and now, so do we.") And Vicki isn't happy to learn she already has a client. Fortunately, the supernatural doesn't appear to be involved. Vicki is just looking for a man whose mother-in-law thinks he should come home to take care of his little girl. Later we find out that his ex-wife has been murdered and he's the prime suspect. Sarah, their little girl, claims there was no one there, although Vicki suspects she's hiding something and starts to investigate the murder as well.

Henry and Vicki find a drawing in the house that Sarah made of her mother laying on the ground, bleeding and dead, with a bear or yeti or something (I was secretly hoping Vicki would suggest Big Foot) that was dated three weeks before her mother's death. Sarah's art teacher sent the drawing, suggesting that Sarah get some help.

Vicki goes to talk to the father, thinking he might know something, and he tells the story of Buttercup, the bear that comes to life to give Sarah what she wants. He says the bear nearly killed him and he and Sarah's mother started sending her to Cobb's School, where things got better, and then worse. But Sarah's mother refused to withdraw her from the school. The father hit the road. Vicki fails to persuade him to return to Sarah before Mike reveals that the father made a call to the school.

Vicki goes to the school to speak to Sarah's art teacher, who says the pictures have been getting violent for several months before Cobb (the principal) tells Sarah that Vicki is trying to take Buttercup away. Sarah sets off a chain reaction which causes effects much like those of a poltergeist. The art teacher is hurt during the attack.

When Sarah's father calls to say he's going to get Sarah, Vicki realizes she may've sent a man to his death and goes to stop him. On the way, she calls Henry, telling him to meet her when he wakes up. She finds Sarah's father easily enough, and they go in to try and get Sarah, but Cobb tells Sarah they're going to take Buttercup and they're bad people. Henry and Mike arrive to find Sarah at the center of a manifestation. Eventually they convince her that Cobb is the bad guy and her dad really loves her and wants to take her home.

But, as usual, there's got to be a twist: during the fight, Henry grabbed Cobb by the neck and his eyes went black and his fangs came out. Mike saw him like this and realized he's not human, that he's a vampire, creating sparks (but not the good kind) between him and Vicki, as well as deepening his hatred for Henry.

During this episode, we also realize that Henry has a girl that he feeds from and probably has a little bit of a relationship with, although I would say that she is a mistress more than a girlfriend.

Henry: I'm a vampire, not a bloodhound.

Vicki: I'm not ghostbusters!
Coreen: They had a lot of clients. And now, so do we.

Vicki: "You O.K.?"
Henry: "It's the blood."
Vicki: "Not making you sick is it?"
Henry: "Just hungry."

  • From Sandra (Script Supervisor) We had a disaster on set when the heat from one of the large lamps used to light the scene set off a ceiling fire sprinkler head.  It would turn out to be the first of three times during the filming of season one that fire sprinklers were set off by hot lights.

  • The comic book store used in the episode is Elfsar Comics & Toys located in the Yaletown area of downtown Vancouver, BC.

  • According to Wikipedia: Originally telekinesis was coined to refer to the movement of objects thought to be caused by ghosts of deceased persons, mischievous spirits, demons, or other supernatural forces. Later when speculation increased that humans might be the source of the witnessed phenomena (that which was not caused by fraudulent mediums)and could possibly cause movement without any connection to a spiritualistic setting, such as in a darkened séance room, psychokinesis was added to the lexicon, this done to differentiate between the earlier use of the term telekinesis.
