We begin this episode with Henry catching lookout (or in this case sound out) for Vicki while she plant’s some bugs in a thief’s desk. Henry invites her to a show where Henry is exhibiting some of his art. Vicki is flattered and accepts his offer of a date. A real date.

At the gallery Jude is trying to get a hold of Maya. She was supposed to help him hang paintings but she isn’t around. After leaving a harsh message for Maya, Jude gets back to his paintings, hanging a particularly dark one of a house with a hanging man’s swinging legs in the window. He leaves the painting to get a drink and while pouring he hears something.

No one’s there however when he takes his drink back to the hall to investigate. However, we can see that the swinging legs are no longer in the painting. Jude turns back to the main room of the gallery as someone rushes up behind him. He has time to scream and drop his drink and not much else.

After the credits, Vicki shows Henry the check she received as a result of her successful wire tapping but Henry’s pre-occupied. There’s a problem with the gallery. The owner is missing and Henry wants Vicki to help find him. He introduces her to Maya and it’s clear that Maya is someone special to Henry.

Vicki agrees and interviews Maya about what happened with Jude. She says they had an argument, he left a nasty message on her machine but he’d never disappear before a gallery opening. Vicki will call around some places and see if she can find him and then interview gallery patrons.

Later, at the gallery, Vicki and Coreen arrive and go their separate ways to work the crowd. Vicki sees immediately that Henry has included a graphic arts painting of her in his collection and as she investigates it she’s interrupted by a man who talks up both Henry and the gallery. But he fears Jude won’t be around anymore because Maya’s about ready to move on to someone new. Vicki seems determined not to let this man slip away before she finds out all she can and they begin to tour some of the other works at the gallery.

Meanwhile, Coreen has found one of the artists. Coincidentally the painter of one dark house with a pair of swinging legs magically back in the window. Coreen tells Tyrone that she feels that most of the paintings are trying too hard but she thinks his painting is truly wonderful. Mister Artiste isn’t going to let Coreen slip away that’s for sure.

In another part of town, Mike and Dave come up on a somewhat interesting murder scene. It’s Jude, sitting alone in a high backed chair, looking out over a vacant lot. Dave thinks it’s kind of creepy the way he was just posed like that. They identify him as Jude Marsden.

Henry arrives at the gallery and brings drinks to Vicki and Coreen. After telling Vicki how beautiful she looks in her dress they get down to business. Vicki tells him all the patrons fall into two categories. Those who love Maya and those who hate her. Henry defends Maya again and Vicki wants to know what’s going on between the two of them.

Henry tells her that he and Maya are just friends and that she’s a little young for him. Vicki thinks everyone is and then tells him she wants a commission on the painting of her.  They banter about the painting for a moment and then Henry asks Coreen what she found out.

Coreen takes the opportunity to wax poetic about Tyrone and his work and his astrological sign. They manage to focus her back on Jude and she confirms that Tyrone thinks Maya is high maintenance and Jude had it rough. Vicki wants to know what’s really going on with Maya as the woman in question walks by while heavily flirting with one of the patrons.

Henry says something about her not censoring herself and then going to break up her little party. Vicki and Coreen take in one of Maya’s paintings signed with the same kind of tattoo she wears on her wrists. It’s similar looking in style to Vicki’s and she turns to go get her camera to snap a picture of it when she sees Mike come in and knows immediately what happened to Jude.

At the morgue, Mike questions Maya about Jude’s last day as Henry and Vicki look on. He asks about the fight they had and Maya says they fought a lot because they were passionate people. She didn’t kill him and doesn’t know who did.

Maya walks out and Henry gets in Mike’s face about being nicer to Maya and wants Vicki to help him prove Maya’s innocence.  She will help him find Jude’s killer but that’s the best she can do. After Henry walks out Mike tells her Henry is way out of line and she needs to keep him on a short lease.

After Mike takes off Vicki and Mohadevan talk about Jude. He was apparently drowned in paint before being placed in the vacant lot. Vicki can’t imagine how it got there and neither can Mohadevan. The paint appears to have come up from within.

Back at the gallery Henry makes a show of helping Maya clean up, taking the opportunity to question her thoroughly, using his powers of persuasion. She reveals that she did fight with Jude earlier, a worse than normal fight. She’d been having an affair and Jude went ballistic. She said even though they broke up she promised to help him come back and hang the paintings anyway.

After the cleanup Henry heads home and he and Vicki compare notes. Vicki wants to know about the symbols on Maya’s art. She thinks she may be into witchcraft. Henry tells Vicki he interrogated Maya and she’s not involved so they need to look at other suspects. Vicki presses that according to the gallery patrons Maya is the only enemy in Jude’s life and that she’d been having an affair.

Vicki thinks Henry is protecting Maya from something and wonders what it is as she takes her leave.

The next day Maya is working on another painting as Vicki questions Maya again about her indiscretions. They are interrupted by Angus who has come to pick up his painting. Vicki leaves them alone and heads back to her office. She and Coreen talk over the case and Coreen thinks Vicki should talk to Tyrone again. He knew Maya back when she was Enid. She tells Vicki to play it cool if Tyrone asks about her.

Back at the gallery Angus has helped Maya with her grief but she’s unwilling to talk about a further relationship because her heart is broken. She throws him out and tells him to leave a check on the bar as he leaves.  Then she heads in for a shower.

Vicki has tracked down Tyrone and asks him about Enid/Maya and he confirms that Maya was having an affair with Angus. Vicki wants to see his painting but he puts her off. He hints around that he wants to ask Coreen to a show and Vicki gives him her card and tells him Coreen answers the phone.

Back at the gallery, Angus is studying the dark, dark painting of Tyrone’s. He sees the legs disappear from the window and then sees a figure appear in the doorway. The dark figure shows up behind him and he turns to look but it’s disappeared. When he turns back to the painting two arms reach out to pull him in. He screams and his glasses drop to the floor.

Maya comes out after Angus disappears and she finds his glasses on the floor with streaks of paint on them.

Mike and Dave have another body on their hands at the vacant lot. It’s poor Angus. They figure with the heat still on the body and the witnesses that time of death was about noon. They compare notes between Angus and Jude and it’s obvious the deaths are connected.

Vicki and Coreen are going over witchy symbols and they find Maya’s mark. It’s a talisman for protection against demons. Coreen asks Vicki if she can leave early since she has a date with Tyrone and she takes off.

Mike shows up at Vicki’s to tell and question her about Angus. She puts him at the gallery and they agree that Maya looks more hinky by the minute. Vicki tells him Henry believes she’s innocent but says she’s not so sure. Mike has enough to bring her in for questioning but he’ll need Vicki’s help with Henry.

Henry, meanwhile, shows up at Maya’s. They talk about her current painting. It’s of one of her ex-boyfriends… Reinhold or Henrick… At the mention of Henrick, Henry tries to turn her attention to one of her other paintings and they talk about her mother and what a great artist she was.

Maya recalls a dream she had about her mother. She was with one of her boyfriends. They were happy and laughing and then her boyfriend turned into a monster and devoured her. As he’s devouring he looks up and sees Maya and smiles. Henry says he does sound like a monster but Maya disagrees. She thinks she loved him and thinks that’s pretty screwed up.

Henry pulls Maya into a hug and apologizes to her for what she went through. She tells him it’s not his fault and then tries to kiss him. Henry stops her and tells her with his vampire voice that she doesn’t think of him that way. Maya immediately changes her tune and Henry goes to leave but is stopped by the arrival of Mike and Vicki.

Mike is there to take Maya in for questioning about Jude and Angus. Henry tries to stop Mike but Vicki intervenes and Mike takes Maya away. Henry again tries to tell Vicki again that Maya’s innocent but Vicki says that’s not enough anymore. She’s gonna have to prove it.

Coreen is out with Tyrone. Or more accurately in with Tyrone. They’re having a romantic dinner in his loft. Tyrone tells Coreen about Edward Franklin, an artist who sacrificed everything for his dream. Coreen would love to see his work but Tyrone puts her off, saying he’ll show it to her the next times she’s over. They kiss and then go back to dinner as the covered painting billows its tarp.

Vicki has taken a taxi out to the vacant lot to find Henry going through the crime scene.  She wonders what it is about Maya. Henry fills her in about his relationship with Maya’s mother. He says Maya was a special girl and she’s the same person he knew. She needs his help. Vicki says some time things can’t be fixed.

Vicki thinks there must be something to that empty lot. There must be a reason the bodies end up there. She goes back to the office and she and Coreen research the lot history. Apparently the lot was formerly owned by Edward Franklin, the artist that obsesses Tyrone. Coreen thinks that’s a hell of a coincidence but we all know that Vicki doesn’t believe in them.

At the station, Mike questions Maya about Angus. She denies again that she is the killer. Mike doesn’t think she likes men very much. Maya says painting is her way of coping not killing. She wonders what Mike’s way of coping is.

Vicki and Coreen discuss Edward Franklin. Apparently all Franklin left behind was a blank canvas and the 70 page manifesto. Coreen thinks it’s odd that there could be so little left of Franklin and yet Tyrone speaks of him like he knows him. He even has a painting. Vicki says all the paintings were destroyed except the blank canvas but Coreen thinks there must have been one left before the blank canvas.

Vicki goes over the crimes again with Coreen and thinks maybe Franklin’s ghost is responsible for the murders. That he’s been transferred in to the blank canvas and that’s how he’s killing people. Coreen thinks Tyrone must be in danger but Vicki prevents her from running off by saying that if Tyrone has the canvas and he hasn’t been harmed it’s possible he’s involved.

Coreen thinks Tyrone’s not a bad but Vicki says they need to know for sure. In that vein, Coreen brings Jude lunch and takes him away from his painting so that Vicki can sneak in and look at the canvas. She sees nothing unusual in the canvas but she knocks something over and has to run out. Coreen makes an excuse to leave.

After she leaves the canvas talks to Tyrone. It’s a different one from the one Vicki was looking at. The canvas tells Tyrone that Coreen can’t be trusted and that he’s sacrificed everything for his art. He wants to know what Tyrone will sacrifice. Tyrone tells him everything and then the painting presses out so there’s a face in it. Tyrone begins to paint on the canvas and soon there is a painting of a man with a noose around his neck. As Tyrone watches the painting comes to life.

Back at the officer, Henry Coreen and Vicki compare notes. Coreen thinks Tyrone must be innocent but Vicki’s not so sure. Vicki and Henry go to talk to the niece again but it’s just an excuse to get them out of there. As they leave Vicki tells Coreen to hang tight.

In the hallway they go over Franklin’s manifesto again and it’s clear that Tyrone is hiding something, which is why they’re keeping Coreen in the dark. They go back to Tyrone’s loft to search for another canvas but they don’t find anything. Certainly not a haunted canvas. They begin to destroy all the canvases but before they get too far Vicki finds her card by Tyrone’s phone. They need to get back to the office…

At the office Tyrone shows up and surprises Coreen with a finished painting. He has her unwrap it to find the painting of the man with the noose. Coreen makes nice even though she doesn’t really like it. They’re interrupted by the phone but Tyrone hangs up on whoever it is and tells Coreen she needs to learn how to appreciate art.

Coreen knows there’s something wrong here and tries to run but Tyrone stops her. The painting comes to life and tries to drag Coreen in but Vicki arrives in time to try and stop him. Franklin tries to choke Vicki but is stopped by Henry, who tears the canvas. The canvas pulls Franklin back into it, causing Tyrone to run towards it.

He turns back and tells them they don’t know what they’ve done but Franklin decides not to leave without a party favor and pulls Tyrone into the painting instead. Vicki and Henry burn the painting as we see a posed, dead Tyrone looking blankly over the vacant lot.

At the gallery Maya finishes her painting of her and Henry as Vicki walks away from the burning painting
