Vicki meets with a client named Angelique who is searching for her missing brother. They discuss the case in a bar and Vicki encourages the young woman to go to the police for help but the woman refuses, stating that her brother Royal has been involved in some bad things thanks to a man named Henry.
Angelique has an escort/protector with her and as the duo go down the street with Vicki a man approaches. Angelique and her escort run, yelling to Vicki to do the same. Turning a corner they enter an alleyway. Instead of running away Vicki follows the duo and tries to fight with the man. The assailant seems unresponsive to Vicki's attack. He kills Angelique's escort, Angelique runs and the assailant knocks Vicki down to follow Angelique out of the alley.
The police arrive with Celluci taking lead on the case. Celluci and his partner, Graham, get a statement from Vicki regarding the body. Vicki tells Celluci that the man who attacked them and murdered the guy was making noises but wasn't breathing. Celluci tells Vicki not to turn into a whack job. Vicki says the guy was unstoppable. Celluci warns her that he doesn't want her out chasing vampires. He asks if Henry's involved. She gets defensive and they argue. Vicki storms away indignantly. Michael calls out, "Garbage can 12 o' clock." Vicki narrowly misses colliding with the dumpster.
Henry is drawing in his apartment when Vicki knocks on his door. She asks Henry for his help. She describes the assailant in the alley and Henry immediately recognizes the man to be a zombie. He tells Vicki voodoo is involved and warns her away from the case. She gets defensive with Henry like she did with Celluci. Henry agrees to help her if only to keep her alive.
A man with a cajun accent is seen chatting with an associate about Angelique. He tells the man that she needs to be found. As his associate leaves the assailant zombie from the alley is seen.
Coreen is doing voodoo research, trying to help Vicki with the case. She says she is trying to find how to stop them. Vicki expresses the wish that they could just kill them like in the movies. Henry states, "Don't trust the movies, look what they did to vampires." Coreen notices the tattoos on the dead guy in the alley are voodoo tattoos. Henry beseeches Vicki again to give up the case but she refuses.
Henry and Vicki go back to the bar, asking about Angelique. Vicki says, "I'll have a beer and him... you don't want to know." The bartender feigns ignorance and Henry tries to coerce the man into talking. Patrons of the bar approach on the bartenders behalf and Vicki convinces Henry to let the bartender go and they leave. Vicki follows the bartender after work hoping he will lead them to Angelique.
Following the bartender works and they come upon Angelique performing a voodoo spell. Angelique tells Vicki she didn't expect to see her again. She tells Vicki that voodoo has been in their family for generations. She says her parents died when she and her brother were small children. They were killed as a sacrifice. She says she and her brother ran away trying to avoid the voodoo world. She tells them she dreamt about her brother and needs to find him.Vicki agrees to help her. Henry pulls her aside to counsel her against promising to find him. Vicki argues with him again. Henry sarcastically asks, "you gonna keep doing this, coming up with an answer to everything I say?" Vicki replies, equally sarcastic, "only if you keep saying things."
Vicki takes Angelique to her office leaving her with Coreen. Coreen asks Angelique about voodoo spells, wanting answers to her questions. Vicki and Henry encounter Celluci and verbally spar about the case. Leaving Celluci they find another murder victim. Henry realizes they aren't alone and the zombie from the alley rises to attack them. Henry fights with the zombie to protect Vicki. The zombie is pinned to the wall as Vicki and Henry make their escape.
Vicki is frustrated, and apologizes to Henry. She realizes how over her head she is in the case. She senses there is something more than Henry just not liking voodoo. Henry tells Vicki a story about how he and a woman visited a voodoo ceremony back in the 20's. Before Henry realized what was happening his friend had disappeared. He found her lying at an alter, with a priest standing over her with a knife. The priest knew what Henry was. The priest sacrificed Henry's friend then brought her back as a zombie. Vicki says he couldnt have known what would happen when they went to the ceremony. Henry says now he does know and he is not going to let that happen to her.
Vicki goes to Celluci cancelling their dinner plans and wanting to know if Celluci found anything about Henri. She tells Celluci again about the voodoo and Celluci refuses to believe it, wanting to know what she is really doing. Vicki tells him, "you're the one banging your head against an open door." Vicki tells Celluci she is not going to drop the case and that she will share with him the details. Celluci asks Dave to investigate Henry Fitzroy.
Vicki returns to the office, telling Angelique and Coreen where Henri can be found. She encourages Angelique to stay at the office. Angelique gives Vicki a bracelet, telling her it is for protection. Coreen continues to ask Angelique about voodoo advise and Angelique tells her they should begin again from scratch.
Henry and Vicki go to see Henri. He senses them coming and tells them both they are working for the zombie queen. Henri tells them he took Royale because the two of them were the family from hell. He tells them the bones are hidden in the cemetary but the soul of Royale is with him. He refers to Angelique as a crone. He says she stays young by killing children, feeding on them to stay alive. He tells them Angelique wants to bring her brother back.
Angelique is seen chanting back at the office, which is making Coreen uncomfortable. Angelique performs a spell rendering Coreen unable to talk. She returns to her chanting. Henri's associate falls, and Henri realizes Angelique is performing a spell. As he lies dying, he tells them not to let her have Royale's amulet with his soul in it.
They rush back to the office finding Angelique made a voodoo doll of Vicki's hair. She threatens Vicki, hurting her through the doll and disappears. Coreen has her mouth back. She says, "She took my mouth away." Vicki coughingly jokes, "I'd love to learn that trick sometime." It's almost daylight and Henry has to leave them. He tells Coreen to keep Vicki comfortable. Vicki tells Henry they have to stop Angelique. Henry has to go and tells Vicki to find the cemetary that Royale is buried in. Vicki tells Coreen to search for a body that would have been shipped from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and there wouldn't have been a funeral ceremony.
Coreen comes back before sunset and tells Vicki she thinks she knows where the cemetery is. Celluci calls telling Vicki he has two more bodies tied to the case. Vicki tells Celluci that her client did it. He tells Celluci her client is a trying to resurrect her brother to go on a killing spree. Graham comes up with Henry's background and tells Celluci that Henry has perfect credit, no problems is totally clean. Vicki tells Coreen she can't wait for Henry, she has to find Royale's body and leaves against Coreen's protests.
Henry calls and Coreen tells him where Vicki went. Coreen tells Henry one of her books about voodoo says to use salt. She tells Henry according to the book if the zombie tastes salt it is supposed to remind it of its mortality. Henry tells her not to believe everything she reads. But he takes salt with him to the cemetary. Vicki finds the crypt and sees Angelique. A zombie grabs Vicki holding her while Angelique begins the ceremony to resurrect her brother. Henry arrives with the amulet. Angelique has another zombie take hold of Henry while she grabs the amulet containing Royale's soul. She intends to use Vicki as the sacrifice to bring Royale back. Henry uses salt on the zombie, grabs the voodoo doll and Vicki strikes Angelique knocking her against Royale's grave. Royale grabs her pulling her into the grave with him.
Henry and Vicki are walking through the cemetary and Henry hands Vicki the voodoo doll. She tells him, "You know I stopped playing with dolls a long time ago." Henry moves to kiss Vicki and she pulls him to her, but kisses his cheek. She gives him the doll telling him to take care of it.
Vicki is back in the office when Celluci arrives. He tells Vicki he found bodies at the cemetary. He wants to know what's next. Goblins in the subway, Bigfoot at the shopping mall. Vicki avoids the question offering to buy him lunch.
