Vicki, Henry and their newest client, Keller, are walking through a hotel, intent on picking up an item Keller is missing. Henry seems a little cranky this evening since he hasn’t eaten all night but his attention is soon diverted as he smells all kinds of supernatural in the air. Vicki tries to re-assure him that it’s just a no-tell motel but Henry is not deterred.

As they approach the room where Henry smells the danger Vicki’s tattoos start to burn and we see a multitude of spirits fly towards the group. They run through Henry and Vicki and……

All of the sudden Vicki’s waking up in her office at 5:55. Coreen tells her her half hour is up and asks if she’s ok. Vicki tells her about her dream and how she died and while Coreen thinks it’s cool but Vicki assures her that it isn’t. Coreen asks for the Ackerman file and as Vicki goes to give it to her she knocks a goblet off the desk. They argue about how Vicki never liked the goblet even though Vicki claims she liked it fine.

They’re interrupted by the arrival of Jacob Keller and Vicki tries to tell him they’ve met before even though he doesn’t think so. He’s in antiquities and his associate, Benoit is missing. He’s worried because he hasn’t been paid even though he delivered a certain Roman glass bowl to this Benoit over a month ago. He has to find either the bowl or Benoit so he can get paid or his business will go under.

Vicki is miffed by their meeting because of the dream she just woke up from but she gets right on the case, using her unique talents, in this case a wonderful southern accent to find out where Benoit actually lives. Henry shows up mid phone call and enjoys Vicki’s conversation until she catches site of him. They bicker a little about her perfect accent and then head off with Keller to confront Benoit.

When they get to Benoit’s apartment, however, they find him, very dead. Vicki goes in and talks to Mike about the murder, finding him wearing his lucky tie and fresh off celebrating a case solving with Kate. She unleashes her jealousy claws for a moment or two and then notices a note that says “Empire Hotel: Midnight”.

Leaving the crime scene Vicki, Henry and Keller and head to the hotel where Vicki starts to tell Henry about her nightmare. She gets sidetracked with Mike and his lucky tie until Keller appears and re-focuses her attention back to the bowl and the nightmare. She begins to recognize all the things from her dream and they come up on a tall, dark, disturbing looking man with a briefcase.

This is somewhat new to Vicki as the tall man wasn’t in her last dream but she points him out to Henry and he rushes the man, causing him to drop his briefcase, which falls open, revealing a very old looking box. This causes the burning of Vicki’s tattoos and Keller’s desire to open said box.

As Henry runs back to stop Keller, tall dark and disturbing opens the box and releases the spirits, which causes Vicki to ……

Wake up, again, at 5:55.

This time Vicki flashes back to everything she remembers from her previous experiences with today and asks where Keller is. Coreen’s confused but points out the news article chronicling Mike and Kate’s solving of the cold case they were celebrating the first time Vicki experience this day. Coreen thinks it’s amazing and Vicki is freaking out about it being the same day and in the process knocks over the goblet, triggering the same discussion about whether or not Vicki liked it.

They’re interrupted by Keller, who’s surprised that Vicki knows him. She questions him about the box very forcefully which finally causes him to reveal that it’s a mystical peace which can do all sorts of neat things. Vicki says that’s not all it does and tells him they’re going to go save Benoit who’s about to be very dead.

Henry arrives as Vicki grabs her coat and she tells him they’re going to see a man about a box. They leave a very confused Coreen in the office go to see Benoit as Vicki fills them in about how Benoit hopes to buy the box at midnight. Henry want to know how Vicki knows all this but she says just call it a hunch. Henry isn’t convinced about her hunch and calls it a play by play.

She finds a dying Benoit and calls in Henry. Benoit manages to call out to “Jacob” before he dies and as they all look down on him Henry smells something evil in the air. He runs out after a janitor they had innocently passed by in the hall as Vicki phones the police.

As Mike stares down at the crime scene Vicki tells him the tie is for a date, which of course confuses Mike because he doesn’t even remember the original lucky tie argument. She fills him in on the crime and that she walked in on Benoit dying and he’s very confused as she finishes up and leaves him to his work. Especially since he didn’t know the dead guy was Benoit.

Vicki and Henry head off to the Empire Hotel and she has the conversation they had in the previous incarnation of her day, which totally confuses Henry because he, also, does not remember the last one.

Keller shows up, surprising her and says he can help with the exchange. She doesn’t put up too much of a fight and leads them to the hallway, with tall dark and disturbing and the briefcase, which again falls open and reveals the box. This time Vicki goes to confront tall dark and disturbing and Keller takes the opportunity to open the box……

And we’re back to 5:55… again.

Vicki tells Coreen to hold Keller at the office. Coreen is confused because she doesn’t know any Keller and asks for the Ackerman file. Vicki tells her it’s on her desk and leaves as Coreen gets the file and breaks the goblet herself this time.

Grabbing Henry, Vicki heads over to Benoit’s office, filling Henry in along the way about her dream. Vicki thinks that she is reliving everything again because the marks on her wrists kept her alive. Henry wonders if she thinks Astaroth is keeping her alive for something else and she tells him that maybe he is and if that’s the case she’s going to use it. Henry tells her not to be seduced into using evil to beat other evil. They argue some more about her using the marks and Vicki shuts him up by telling him she’s not going to be fate’s bitch.

They confront the very much alive Benoit and he denies knowing Keller or anything about any box so Vicki has Henry use his vampire persuasion on Benoit. Henry is hesitant but does as she asks, telling Benoit that he’s coming with them. Then Henry smells the evil and goes after it as Vicki takes Benoit out to the car.

Back at the office Coreen is trying to persuade Keller to stay and manages to keep him there until Vicki, Henry and Benoit arrive. Benoit and Keller argue about the box but Vicki interrupts to tell them they have no idea. She tells Henry to keep everyone there while she goes after the box.

As she leaves Benoit and Keller try to follow causing Henry to use his vampire mojo to order them to stay. It, of course, works like a charm and they sit right down.

Vicki calls Mike to meet her at the Empire Hotel and he does. She fills him in on her re-occurring day and he’s extremely skeptical. They find tall, dark and disturbing who’s dead and minus the box. Vicki notices a particular ring on the man’s finger as Mike pulls his wallet. He’s Derek Foreman, who’s supposed to be selling the box and Vicki realizes the janitor must have it.

They find the janitor leaving the hotel and Mike goes to arrest him. As he does Vicki feels the power in her tattoos flash and she’s seduced in opening the box this time……

Reset! Guess what everyone? It’s 5:55 again

Vicki determines that she’s going to save the goblet and moves it before drawing a picture of the ring Derek was wearing on the Ackerman file and asking Coreen to track it down. She fills him about Jacob Keller and then goes to leave. She has to go back for her phone and manages to break the goblet and tells Coreen she loves the goblet and everything’s going to be fine and they won’t let fate win.

She grabs Mike and goes and gets Benoit. As they leave the janitor holds a knife to Benoit’s throat and wants to know where the box is so Mike arrests the janitor.

Back at the office Coreen and Henry talk about Vicki and her babbling about a goblet, fate and running out. Coreen thinks Vicki has finally snapped. The phone rings and it’s Vicki, who wants Henry to bring Keller to the police station. She asks about the ring and Coreen tells her it’s for a society called the Knights of Babylon.

That gets Henry’s attention and he listens intently as Coreen fills Vicki in about the Knights of Babylon and their oath to protect good ole Pandora’s box. Coreen tells Vicki that no living person can resist the temptation to open it, causing Vicki to finally put together why the box kept getting opened.

At the station, Mike is questioning the janitor, who totally clams up about what he was doing at Benoit’s office with the knife. Vicki and Kate watch the interrogation and talk about Derek Foreman and have an awkward conversation about Mike and Kate and after dinner drinks.

Vicki and Mike talk about the janitor and her re-living the same day. He’s releasing Benoit and Keller because he has nothing to hold them on. She tells him she’s going to the Empire hotel and goes to leave but he insists on coming with her.

At the hotel Mike and Henry accompany Vicki down the hall, finally starting to believe she is actually re-living the same day because everything she tells them has been happening. They confront Foreman and Mike tells him to put down the box and he pulls a gun and fires before Henry has a chance to rush him.

Vicki sees that Mike has been shot and catches him as he falls. She holds him as he dies. Henry keeps a hold on Foreman and watches them. As Henry finally drops Foreman and grabs the box, Vicki yells at Henry to bring her the box and open it so she can go back and change things.

Henry tries to tell her the same thing could happen all over again. He tells her some things can’t change. They have the box, they’ve won and Vicki says not like this they haven’t. Vicki is hysterical at the thought that Mike died because of her and Henry realizes she’d die for Mike and he’s finally convinced to open the box for her……

And we have yet one more reset. Vicki awakens and gives Coreen the Ackerman file before she even asks for it. As Coreen leaves with her file, Vicki puts the goblet in a drawer and calls Mike. He’s worried that she’s not okay because she sounds so upset. She assures him that everything’s ok and they talk a little about his tie. She tells him to have a good time tonight and hangs up on him.

Kate invites Mike out for drinks in celebration of solving the Nichols homicide and a confused Mike agrees. As she passes him she compliments his tie.

Vicki gives Coreen the rest of the day off, telling her to leave ASAP and not to come back that day. She and Henry go and get Benoit and she tells him she’ll take his meeting at the Empire Hotel while Henry keeps him safe. As they leave the janitor overhears the Empire Hotel information, just as Vicki planned.

At the Hotel, Vicki arrives and watches the security cameras to find out where Foreman is. She confirms out loud that Foreman’s in the boardroom just as the janitor walks by.

In the boardroom she uses a little bit of trickery to get a hold of Foreman’s gun and gets him to reveal the box. She takes it and is interrupted by the janitor, who is also a member of the Knights of Babylon. Turns out he’s an actual keeper of the box and Foreman was just a poser who was biding his time until he could steal it and sell it to the highest bidder.

The janitor tries to shoot Vicki but is interrupted by Henry who grabs his gun and gives it to Vicki. Henry takes the briefcase and opens it, shocking Foreman and the janitor because he doesn’t have any temptation to actually open the box. Since he’s not actually living he’s not tempted.

Vicki and Henry take their leave and head back to Henry’s penthouse so that he can wall up the box in his apartment. Vicki thanks him for everything he did. He tells her he only has memory of the last time and she tells him that he ended the world for her because he trusted her to bring it back.

He says trust can be very stimulating and Vicki agrees. He asks if she minds and she doesn’t mind at all if he feeds on her in the elevator of his building.

Again it’s 5:55 and Vicki wakes up, but this time Coreen brings her the paper and tells her she’s been sleeping all day instead of just the half hour she had been getting. Coreen gives her the paper and Vicki is happy to see the headline has finally changed.

She heads over to the station and sees Mike in conversation with Kate. She walks right up to him and hugs him and Kate takes the opportunity to leave them alone. Mike is certainly surprised to see her because she sounded so frazzled on the phone. She tells him she had one of those days that she wished she could just start over. He tells he’s glad she’s okay now. She asks about his date and he says it wasn’t a date it was just a couple of cops having a drink after work.

He says it’s good to see her around, it’s like nothing ever changes. She says almost nothing ever changes and she just wanted to make sure he was okay. She leaves a confuse Mike at the station and the episode ends in Vicki’s darkened office with the goblet moving itself off the desk and crashing on the floor.

Vicki: Is a drink an implied sexual advance?
Henry: Other than our strange sexless relationship we seem to share, I don't have much experience in the world of dating.
Vicki: Really? So you don't get your groove on before you put the bite on?
Henry: My relationships are usually intense and passionate from the first glance. I don't need to make a sexual advance.
